Role Overview
As a Field Applications Scientist, you will deliver remote and on-site training and applications support to customers while facilitating sales via technical presentations and demonstrations. Your key focus will be on maximizing usage of the Standard BioTools Cytometry and Tissue Imaging product portfolio—including High-End Instruments and Consumables—within the DACH region. You will work closely with the Senior Field Applications Scientist, Team Leader EMEA.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver customer training courses both on-site and at company facilities.
- Offer technical applications support through phone, email, and face-to-face interactions, addressing user skills, instrument operation, experimental design, and data analysis issues.
- Contribute to developing and reviewing technical documentation such as manuals, application notes, and presentations.
- Support sales activities by conducting application-based seminars and product demos.
- Manage proof-of-principle experiments for prospective customers and assist in grant application processes for product acquisition.
- Coordinate territory planning and collaborate closely with Regional Sales Managers.
- Participate in new product evaluations and beta testing with R&D teams and test sites.
- Provide feedback from both customers and personal observations to the R&D department for ongoing improvements.
- Maintain and update support data within the company’s enterprise database.
- Communicate progress and issues to management, users, and colleagues effectively.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a Master’s degree in life sciences; a Ph.D. and solid imaging expertise are highly advantageous.
- Have 3-5 years of practical experience in imaging, immunology, or cell biology laboratories; prior field application support experience is preferred.
- Be proficient in diagnosing technical issues related to software, instruments, applications, and data analyses for flow cytometry or mass cytometry platforms; advanced bioinformatics knowledge is a plus.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 60% within the assigned region and broader EMEA as needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities in English and German.
- Strong organizational and technical writing skills with experience giving scientific presentations.
- Adept independent thinker with excellent problem-solving capabilities and customer service commitment.
