Geophysicist

About the Role

Join WSP’s Earth & Environment team in Australia as a Geophysicist and engage in impactful projects that address environmental and engineering challenges globally. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse, multidisciplinary group committed to sustainable and resilient solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform near-surface geophysical surveys utilizing methods such as seismic refraction, MASW, electrical resistivity imaging, magnetics, ground-penetrating radar (GPR), electromagnetics, and microgravity.
• Carry out downhole geophysical logging using televiewer and seismic tools.
• Support acquisition of over-water geophysical data, including seismic reflection, refraction, resistivity, magnetic, and bathymetry datasets.
• Design shallow land and marine geophysical surveys using diverse techniques.
• Process, analyze, and interpret geophysical data using industry-standard software.
• Integrate geophysical and geotechnical data sets to generate insightful project outcomes.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate geophysical instrumentation and equipment.
• Collaborate closely with specialists across various WSP offices and disciplines to ensure seamless delivery of projects.

Candidate Profile

• Holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geophysics or a related field; postgraduate qualifications are highly regarded.
• Demonstrated practical experience in at least two of the following areas: seismic refraction, seismic reflection, MASW, electrical resistivity imaging, ground-penetrating radar, borehole televiewers, electromagnetics, magnetometry, or microgravity.
• Experience applying geophysics to structural geology or geotechnical applications is preferred.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to prepare clear, technically robust reports.
• Willingness to conduct field work, including in remote locations.
