Role Summary

This in-person Human Resources Generalist role is located at our Head Office in West Edmonton and reports to the Director of Human Resources. The position encompasses diverse HR responsibilities such as administration, recruitment assistance, workers' compensation management, employee engagement, and performance oversight. Collaboration with management is key to uphold a positive workplace environment, ensure statutory compliance, and support company objectives through effective HR practices. The role includes quarterly travel to Kepler sites within Edmonton and surrounding areas.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Address day-to-day HR queries promptly and professionally
  • Develop and update job descriptions and postings
  • Screen candidate resumes and conduct preliminary interviews
  • Assist with recruitment processes and advise on optimal hiring strategies
  • Prepare formal employment offers and contracts
  • Oversee onboarding operations and verify completion of new hire requirements
  • Conduct HR orientation sessions for new Support Team members
  • Manage all HR processes across the employee lifecycle, ensuring documentation, legal compliance, certifications, and records are maintained
  • Provide guidance for hiring and termination procedures following HR best practices
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook, ensuring compliance with legislation and internal standards
  • Advise managers and staff on employee relations, performance management, disciplinary actions, employment law, and HR best practices
  • Conduct workplace investigations, offer recommendations, and support managerial coaching, progressive discipline, and conflict resolution
  • Promote and support employee engagement initiatives, surveys, recognition programs, and cultural activities
  • Administer benefits, conduct annual compensation reviews, respond to employee inquiries, and manage related HR programs
  • Serve as primary contact for Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) claims and collaborate with stakeholders to coordinate return-to-work initiatives
  • Monitor ongoing claims and provide assistance in case management, including modified work arrangements
  • Participate in health and safety committees, ensuring compliance at the center level and assisting with action plans
  • Build and nurture positive relationships with leadership through quarterly site visits
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and positive workplace culture

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum of three years progressive experience in human resources
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources Management or related discipline
  • CPHR designation or progress towards obtaining it is considered an asset
  • Thorough understanding of Alberta Employment Standards, Human Rights legislation, Occupational Health & Safety, WCB, and HR best practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Outlook, Excel, and OneDrive
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check clearance
