Instructional Assistant/Associate Professor - Electrical and Computer Engineering

About the Role

Texas A&M University at Qatar's Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECEN) Program is seeking a full-time Academic Professional Track (non-tenure) faculty member specializing in computer engineering. This position offers the opportunity to be appointed as either an Instructional Assistant Professor or Instructional Associate Professor, based on your qualifications. The role is based in Doha, Qatar, and requires relocation.

Key Responsibilities

• Primary focus on teaching undergraduate courses within the Electrical and Computer Engineering curriculum.
• Deliver instruction in areas of computer engineering and programming; expertise in app development for iOS/Android, machine learning (AI) applications, and computer networks is a plus.
• Engage in service activities as required by the program.
• Teach a 3-3 course load during the Fall and Spring semesters.
• Teach two courses during the summer semester, extending the appointment by three months for additional salary.

Requirements

• A doctorate degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering is mandatory, to be obtained by the date of hire.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level.
• Strong dedication to fulfilling service responsibilities.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, VHDL, or Verilog.
• Capability to teach courses including Python, C, Computer Programming and Architecture, Digital Systems Design, Computer Architecture and Design, and Microprocessor Systems Design.
• Experience with PLAs, ARM Cortex-M, embedded microprocessor platforms, and computer architectures is essential.
• Familiarity with the U.S. higher education system is preferred.
• Excellent expertise in computer engineering and programming is highly desirable.
• Outstanding teaching experience at reputable universities is a significant advantage.

Eligibility

Applicants must hold a doctorate degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering by the start date.
