IT Business Analyst

About the Role

Robertson & Company Ltd. is recruiting an IT Business Analyst for a leading North American financial institution operating across various sectors including corporate, institutional and commercial banking, wealth management, private clients, treasury, and retail banking.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and document operational risk-related business processes, focusing on risk identification, evaluation, and mitigation strategies.
• Work closely with various stakeholders to gather, define, and document business and functional requirements pertinent to Risk IT projects.
• Prepare detailed and precise business requirements documents (BRDs) and functional specifications to aid in system upgrades and risk reporting initiatives.
• Utilize relational data principles to facilitate source-to-target data mapping and detail data flow for integration into an enterprise data lake and reporting frameworks.
• Collaborate effectively with Agile delivery teams to ensure risk-focused solutions meet business needs and project timelines.
• Perform gap and exploratory data analyses to discover opportunities for improvement and influence solution development.

Necessary Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, business, or data analytics fields.
• Minimum of two years' experience as an IT Business Analyst.
• Proven skills in translating business and technical requirements into thorough documentation such as BRDs, process flow charts, and data mapping diagrams.
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, practical experience with tools like Jira and participation in Scrum teams.
• Competent in SQL and data analysis techniques.
• Familiar with enterprise data lake frameworks and cloud data platforms.
• Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and communication skills.
• Experience working with governance, risk, and compliance platforms such as RSA Archer.
• Certifications related to Agile practices, business analysis, or risk management are preferred.
• Knowledge of operational risk regulatory standards (e.g., Basel, OSFI guidelines).
• Experience with data visualization tools including Power BI or Tableau.
• Understanding of Microsoft Azure data services including ADLS, Cosmos DB, Synapse Analytics, and Databricks.

Additional Information

The contract period and the precise work location will be determined later. The pay starts at $28 per hour. Working hours and location type remain to be confirmed.
