Role Overview
We are looking for a driven and customer-oriented Junior Network Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team. This entry-level position suits individuals eager to develop their networking expertise, solve technical challenges, and interact effectively with stakeholders.
Primary Duties
- Provide first and second-line support for network infrastructure, systems, and user connectivity issues.
- Monitor network performance, ensuring availability and reliability.
- Diagnose and resolve network, hardware, and connectivity problems promptly.
- Assist with configuration, upgrades, and maintenance of network devices.
- Support technologies including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and VPN.
- Manage user account provisioning and deprovisioning across platforms in compliance with security policies.
- Support onboarding processes by provisioning necessary hardware and software for new users.
- Maintain documentation of system configurations and user permissions.
- Assist with operating system and network device patching, validate updates, and identify potential security vulnerabilities.
- Log, track, and update incidents and service requests, investigating recurring issues and recommending improvements.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to understand technical needs and foster strong working relationships.
- Collaborate with vendors and external support when needed.
- Contribute to infrastructure enhancements and stay up to date with emerging networking technologies.
Candidate Requirements
- Between 1 to 3 years of experience in network support, service desk, IT support, or junior network engineering roles.
- Basic knowledge of networking principles such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and routing/switching.
- Familiarity with ticketing and incident management systems.
- Understanding of Windows operating environments and Active Directory.
- Experience supporting user access and provisioning tasks.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication combined with solid customer service abilities.
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally within Australia, particularly to Perth.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Exposure to Cisco, Fortinet, Aruba, Juniper, or similar networking equipment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and cloud platforms such as Azure.
- Awareness of ITIL frameworks and service management concepts.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA or Network+ are advantageous.
- Experience with network monitoring tools.
