Localization Technical Lead

About the Role

We seek an experienced Software Engineer specialized in localization workflows and tools to enhance the technical infrastructure for localized products and content. This position integrates backend software engineering expertise with deep knowledge of Translation Management Systems and automation of localization processes, ensuring streamlined and high-quality content delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least five years of experience in software engineering.
• Proficiency with localization tools and Translation Management Systems (TMS) such as Phrase, Passolo, or equivalent.
• Comprehensive understanding of complete localization workflows including content extraction, translation, review, quality assurance, and product release phases.
• Programming skills in languages including Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL database technologies.
• Experience working with major cloud service platforms like AWS or Azure.
• Expertise in designing or enhancing automation frameworks.
• Strong backend development capabilities combined with solid problem-solving aptitude.
• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar disciplines, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of embedding localization processes into CI/CD pipelines.
• Acquaintance with automated linguistic quality assurance and validation tools.
• Experience in creating APIs, microservices, and various system integrations.
• Exposure to AI-powered translation or localization automation technologies.

Primary Responsibilities

• Act as the technical leader and authority for localization implementations and uphold quality standards within designated products or content streams.
• Enhance localization operations by introducing engineering solutions that improve efficiency, quality, and scalability of production.
• Offer technical advice and support to suppliers and internal teams regarding localization tools and methodologies.
• Identify bottlenecks within localization workflows and lead initiatives for automation and system enhancements.
• Contribute to developing and maintaining shared localization tools and enforcing technical best practices.
• Create and improve integrations between product systems and localization platforms, including TMS, content repositories, and CI/CD systems.
• Develop automation solutions for extracting content, processing files, managing translation handoffs, validating content, and testing.
• Collaborate closely with Localization Program Management and cross-functional technical teams to maintain localization standards and guide decision-making.
