Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Maintenance Associate plays a vital role in preserving both the cleanliness and safety of store premises, encompassing both interior and exterior areas to ensure an inviting shopping environment and comfortable workplace for staff.

Conduct regular cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and operation of floor scrubbers to maintain safe and spotless floors
Empty trash bins and replace bags to uphold tidiness
Sanitize restrooms and breakrooms while replenishing essential supplies
Wipe and polish counters, shelves, and fixtures for organized displays
Perform basic upkeep, including changing light bulbs, addressing minor plumbing repairs, and fixing damaged fixtures
Identify and report safety issues, equipment faults, or maintenance needs to supervisors
Support store operations by assisting with merchandise unloading, stocking, or zoning during available time
Manage exterior upkeep including parking lot cleanliness and litter removal
Operate floor cleaning equipment proficiently
Engage in cross-training to assist various departments as needed
Participate proactively in training sessions and skill development programs
Provide professional assistance internally and to customers, handling inquiries and resolving concerns promptly

Qualifications and Skills

A minimum of three years’ experience in retail cashiering or supervisory roles, or an equivalent blend of education and experience
Strong attention to detail with excellent mathematical skills for cash handling accuracy
Ability to carefully evaluate information to detect errors and uphold precision
Effective verbal and written communication skills for policy implementation, staff direction, and customer service
Proficient user of Microsoft Office and comfortable navigating computer systems
Excellent interpersonal and active listening skills
Flexible availability to work varied shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and a 40-hour workweek

Physical Requirements

Capability to stand or sit for extended periods
Physical ability to lift, push, or pull items weighing 30 pounds repetitively and up to 50 pounds intermittently
Access and mobility throughout all store areas
Ability to communicate clearly in person and via electronic means
Visual acuity suitable for computer work
