Role Overview

As Manager - Logistics & Shipping based in Pawane, Navi Mumbai, you will oversee entire export logistics operations. Reporting to the General Manager of Supply Chain, your responsibility is to ensure timely, compliant, and cost-efficient handling of international shipments by developing strategies, managing service providers, and maintaining regulatory adherence. You will play a pivotal role in optimizing freight expenses and advancing operational excellence to support global business goals.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full cycle of export shipment planning and execution to ensure on-time dispatch and delivery aligned with business targets.
• Craft logistics strategies to improve freight cost efficiency, transit timing, and service quality.
• Coordinate transportation availability, collaborating effectively with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and customs authorities.
• Oversee shipment scheduling and proactively solve logistics challenges to prevent delays.
• Supervise the preparation and review of all pre- and post-shipment documents in line with international trade laws.
• Ensure acquisition of all necessary regulatory approvals and certifications, including DCGI, NAFDAC, Narcotics, DGFT, among others, before shipments depart.
• Maintain compliance with global trade regulations, customs rules, and country-specific import/export protocols.
• Lead requests for quotation (RFQ) evaluation processes and negotiate freight rates with logistics partners.
• Set up SLAs and regularly assess the performance of Customs House Agents, transporters, freight forwarders, and shipping lines.
• Promote continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing logistics outcomes and reducing costs.
• Track logistics budgets and export-related expenses to meet cost-saving goals.
• Manage prompt approval of logistics invoices and vendor payments.
• Enhance logistics workflows via SAP system optimization, automation, and adherence to best practices.
• Collaborate with internal teams across Manufacturing, Planning, Procurement, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Finance, and Commercial functions to ensure smooth export operations.
• Support logistics readiness for new product launches and entry into new international markets.
• Provide senior management with regular reports on logistics performance and critical business insights.
• Lead and mentor the export logistics team to develop skills and operational excellence.
• Encourage a workplace culture based on accountability, compliance, and continuous enhancement.
• Identify and implement initiatives to boost team productivity, service quality, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications and Experience

• A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Business, Commerce, or a related field.
• Preference for candidates holding an MBA or postgraduate qualification specializing in Supply Chain Management or International Trade.
• Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in export logistics, international trade, or supply chain roles within pharmaceutical, healthcare, FMCG, or manufacturing sectors.
• Proven expertise managing exports to regulated international markets, especially Africa, Asia, and other regions.
• Hands-on experience with SAP or ERP systems dealing with international trade documentation.
