Role Summary
The Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Manager will lead the creation and management of a comprehensive MEL function at NavGurukul, enabling data-driven decision-making and continuous organizational improvement. This role emphasizes strategic impact measurement over routine reporting and requires cross-departmental collaboration to enhance data use in improving learner outcomes and organizational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine a holistic MEL framework covering all facets of the learner journey including admissions, learning pathways, placements, alumni engagement, and long-term impact.
- Establish standardized protocols for data collection, quality assurance, governance, and reporting to ensure reliable and actionable data.
- Implement feedback mechanisms to foster an environment of ongoing learning and program optimization.
- Analyze performance data to detect trends, challenges, opportunities, and emergent risks, generating insightful dashboards and strategic reports for leadership.
- Enhance data systems by liaising with product and technology teams to automate reporting and promote operational efficiency through AI and other automation technologies.
- Design and administer evaluations, impact assessments, and organizational learning initiatives, securing outcome-focused and evidence-based donor reporting.
- Collaborate extensively across teams including Programs, Product, Technology, Admissions, Placements, Alumni, Finance, Fundraising, and Leadership to embed evidence-driven decision-making in organizational culture.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an analytical and curious problem-solver who thrives in building systems for smarter organizations. They are passionate about using data to improve lives and can successfully collaborate to simplify complex challenges. This person is comfortable handling data, creating dashboards, automating processes, and guiding leadership with practical insights.
Preferred Experience
- 4 to 8 years working in Monitoring & Evaluation, Data Analytics, Impact Measurement, Program Strategy, or related disciplines.
- Background in education, skill development, livelihoods, workforce development, or nonprofit sectors.
- Proven experience designing MEL frameworks, conducting program evaluations, and measuring impact.
- Strong analytical capability with hands-on experience in dashboard creation and reporting automation.
Additional Valuable Skills
- Proficiency in SQL and BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, or Metabase.
- Experience integrating AI solutions to automate reporting and facilitate analytical work.
- Familiarity with Theory of Change, Results Frameworks, or LogFrames.
- Competency in operational software like Google Workspace, Airtable, or Notion.
- Adeptness working in dynamic, cross-functional, high-growth environments.
