Role Purpose
The Process Plant Coordinator, reporting to the Superintendent, holds direct responsibility for managing all equipment activities to ensure the availability and reliability of production equipment that meets or surpasses production goals. This role acts as the equipment owner overseeing operations from the crushed ore stockpile to the flotation surge tanks and is accountable for establishing and enforcing operating procedures, systems, and processes that optimize production efficiency, reduce costs, and guarantee operational sustainability. Daily to weekly plant execution and optimization are central to this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Fulfill legal obligations under Zambian Mining Regulations.
- Exercise direct equipment ownership from stockpile to flotation surge tanks, including ancillary equipment and utilities.
- Ensure strict compliance with all site health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Investigate equipment-related safety and environmental incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Identify and prioritize housekeeping tasks to maintain plant cleanliness and ensure their execution.
- Consistently achieve and surpass key performance indicators such as plant availability, utilization, milling, flotation throughput, and grinding circuit product quality.
- Manage day-to-day plant operations for optimal utilization and adherence to operational procedures.
- Monitor and report on equipment condition, performance metrics, operational gaps, and corrective measures.
- Provide daily operational instructions to shift teams regarding key equipment and operational directives.
- Participate in morning shift handover meetings, clarify plant status, and hold Shift Supervisors accountable for system compliance and task delivery.
- Support shift teams in equipment performance while focusing on optimization over short- and medium-term horizons.
- Implement operational checklists and logs for proactive equipment monitoring and prompt corrective action.
- Maintain strong field presence with routine daily equipment inspections performed personally.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and foster collaboration with maintenance, engineering, planning, reliability, metallurgy, projects, and operations teams.
- Diagnose and resolve plant defects by identifying root causes and applying corrective and preventative solutions.
- Approve work requests and develop weekly maintenance schedules with planners and supervisors.
- Contribute to short- and long-term equipment production and maintenance planning for sustained capability.
- Collaborate closely with maintenance teams to implement long-term fixes for enhancing equipment reliability.
- Support and coordinate maintenance activities and access.
- Manage work plans for cleaning contractors and mobile equipment.
- Identify, justify, and prioritize capital improvement projects.
- Mentor and train Shift Supervisors, Control Room Operators, and field personnel to uphold high operational standards.
- Contribute to preparation of annual operations and production budgets and forecasts.
- Control operational expenditures and promote a culture of being smarter, bolder, and driven.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

- Fluency in English language.
Experience and Qualifications
- At least 7 years of hands-on operational experience within milling circuits.
- Minimum 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Extensive experience working in large and complex base metals processing plants.
- Familiarity with copper and gold processing circuits is preferred.
- Grade 12 certificate with all qualifications certified by the Zambian Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
