Senior Analyst - Collateral and Margin Operations

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Analyst specializing in Collateral and Margin Operations to join our team in Chennai. This position operates on a hybrid work model and requires minimum 5 years of relevant experience within the Investment Banking or Capital Markets domain. The role provides exposure to global financial markets, central counterparties (CCPs), derivatives handling, and requires effective stakeholder management in a fast-paced banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing the processing of various margin calls, including Variation Margin (VM), Initial Margin (IM), and Intraday margin calls.
• Overseeing cash and securities settlement activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Liaising with clearing house entities such as CCPs to support trading and settlement operations.
• Monitoring collateral balances and ensuring adequate funding is maintained.
• Investigating settlement discrepancies and treasury breaks, with resolution and follow-ups.
• Performing reconciliations and maintaining operational controls for transaction integrity.
• Ensuring transactions settle within specified market cut-off times.
• Coordinating across internal teams including Operations, Risk, Treasury, Front Office as well as managing communications with external counterparties.
• Preparing various operational and risk reports required for management and regulatory purposes.
• Supporting automation and process enhancement initiatives to increase operational efficiency.

Required Expertise

• Practical experience in managing Margin Call processes.
• Strong knowledge of cash and securities settlements.
• Familiarity with SWIFT payment messaging and protocols.
• Understanding of Clearing House and CCP operational workflows.
• Competency in collateral management and resolving breaks through robust reconciliation.
• Experience within Investment Banking or Capital Markets operations.
• Ability to effectively manage stakeholders and facilitate clear client communication.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to derivatives products such as swaps, futures, and options.
• Hands-on experience with trading and risk management systems like Murex, Colline, and GMI.
• Advanced skills in Excel, including VBA, and proficiency in SQL.
