About the Role
Become part of a global company with over 70 years of expertise in mining, energy, and infrastructure, dedicated to driving positive change worldwide. Our Project Delivery Group (PDG) is a highly skilled team focused on delivering world-class projects by applying sustainable methods and unmatched governance systems. As a Senior Logistics Coordinator, you will play a critical role in executing the Logistics Execution Plan, managing multimodal shipments, ensuring timely material delivery, and guiding junior logistics staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute the Logistics Execution Plan during project implementation, ensuring coordination across purchasing, expediting, vendor surveillance, project controls, and site materials management.
- Apply project Incoterms accurately and guarantee that suppliers and logistics service providers comply accordingly.
- Maintain freight records and provide regular shipment forecasts and status updates to the project team.
- Obtain shipment release information, activate shipments through appropriate channels, and ensure freight forwarders and 3PL providers receive complete export and shipping documentation.
- Review vendor logistics information comprehensively, confirming shipment readiness including weights, dimensions, hazard classifications, export/import compliance, and packaging.
- Oversee cargo collection, transport, tracking, tracing, and reporting from origin to destination.
- Coordinate import/export clearance, consolidation, storage, preservation, and delivery readiness as within the project logistics scope.
- Collaborate with site logistics and materials teams to support advanced planning, specialized handling, and final delivery coordination.
- Supervise Logistics Controllers and provide hands-on guidance to junior logistics personnel.
- Assist the Logistics Lead with shipment forecasting, cost analysis, invoice verification, and contract administration.
- Develop contingency plans for critical deliveries, shipment deviations, and specialized loads; engage third-party experts such as marine surveyors when necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
- Formal training in logistics, supply chain, transportation, or related fields is required.
- Extensive knowledge of import/export procedures, Incoterms, customs documentation, multimodal transportation, and project logistics workflows.
- Understanding of procurement processes, corporate governance, and materials management integration.
- Proficient with project and logistics management systems, including reporting and shipment tracking tools.
- Familiar with claims management, freight bill auditing, shipment documentation, and managing logistics exceptions.
- Demonstrated negotiation and stakeholder coordination capabilities.
- Degree, diploma, or comparable tertiary qualifications in logistics are preferred.
- Typically 10-15 years of relevant experience in EPCM, freight forwarding, 3PL, or similar project logistics environments with responsibilities covering planning, transport, and customs coordination.
- Experience overseeing support staff or coordination teams, with strong abilities in contingency planning and critical delivery support.
- International EPCM project experience is advantageous.
Core Competencies
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Effective time management under pressure
- Clear communication and coordination among stakeholders
- Problem-solving aptitude and sound decision-making
- Leadership and teamwork abilities
- Advanced use of logistics systems and reporting tools
- Financial awareness for contract and invoice support
- Understanding of project logistics risks and control measures
Autonomy and Reporting
You will operate with significant independence within approved logistics plans and contractual frameworks, handling routine shipment priorities, documentation, provider follow-up, forecast reporting, and managing exceptions. Strategic decisions involving Incoterms changes, provider selection, major budget implications, or deviations from the logistics strategy require escalation to the Logistics Lead or Project Procurement Manager. This role reports directly to the Logistics Lead, Project Procurement Manager, or Site Materials Manager depending on the project structure, with responsibility for coaching and overseeing junior logistics staff.
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary for this position ranges from 75000 to 125000 annually. Compensation is aligned with market data and internal pay structures and may be supplemented by performance incentives, comprehensive benefits, and programs supporting employee well-being and advancement.
