Software Engineer - Remote Contract Position

Overview

YO AI Labs is seeking skilled software engineers to participate remotely in a contract role focused on training and assessing advanced AI systems through practical software engineering assignments. Ideal candidates are adept at navigating unfamiliar codebases, articulating engineering rationale clearly, and addressing backend, full-stack, systems, or infrastructure challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Tackle demanding projects related to backend, full-stack, system infrastructure, and related domains.
• Analyze, debug, enhance, and clearly explain code across diverse technical settings.
• Create or assess functional solutions involving APIs, databases, integrated services, testing, and deployment processes.
• Evaluate trade-offs concerning scalability, maintainability, performance, reliability, security, and developer usability.
• Document technical reasoning transparently, outlining solution effectiveness and alternative considerations.
• Engage collaboratively with client teams on technical reviews and implementation strategies.
• Rapidly acclimate to new code frameworks and technical standards.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of three years professional experience in software engineering.
• Proficiency in at least one backend or full-stack environment such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Java, C++, Go, or Rust.
• Hands-on experience developing, maintaining, or reviewing applications, APIs, services, databases, or integrations at production scale.
• Solid grasp of core software engineering principles, including debugging, testing, code quality, architectural design, and trade-offs.
• Capability to communicate complex technical decisions clearly and objectively.
• Comfortable interpreting and reasoning through unfamiliar technical codebases or requirements.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, containerization, monitoring, or operational management in production.
• Exposure to frontend technologies like React, Next.js, Angular, Vue, or React Native.
• Contributions to open source projects, public GitHub repositories, published technical writing, or demonstrable past technical achievements.
• Experience in mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, or guiding architecture decisions.

Additional Information

While a background in cybersecurity or security operations is highly advantageous, it is not mandatory. The role is fully remote and requires contract engagement.
