Technical Project Manager - Data Center Development

About the Team

The Data Center Development division at ByteDance spearheads the construction and innovation of data centers and networking infrastructure across the Asia Pacific region. Responsibilities encompass pioneering data center technologies, incorporating renewable energy solutions aimed at carbon neutrality, ensuring swift project execution, capacity forecasting, implementing risk and process controls, and managing expenditures. The ultimate goal is to deliver robust and efficient data center infrastructure to facilitate the company's growth.

The Global Delivery Management unit primarily focuses on site selection, acquisition, and overall project delivery management.

Role Responsibilities

• Oversee comprehensive project management from inception to completion for data center delivery, coordinating across multiple functional teams.
• Manage relationships and operations involving data center providers for new greenfield projects.
• Lead electrical and telecommunications fitout tasks within the data hall.
• Drive localization of data center standards, emphasizing workmanship quality and design adaptations.
• Assist in site selection processes across the Asia Pacific region.
• Contribute to technical evaluations of data center infrastructure.
• Collaborate closely with design teams to optimize data hall standards.
• Support local operations teams in rectifying defects post-handover.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or an equivalent discipline.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role, particularly with project delivery for data center projects of at least 50 MW capacity.
• In-depth knowledge of data center building standards and regulatory requirements within the Asia Pacific, especially Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Established relationships with local electrical and telecom fit-out contractors are advantageous.
• Connections with local telecommunication authorities and carriers would be beneficial.
• Professional Engineer certification is considered a plus.
