Job Overview
This position reports directly to the Avionics Junior Supervisor and seeks an experienced avionics technician skilled in performing comprehensive base maintenance on Typhoon aircraft. The role demands familiarity with Typhoon maintenance protocols, regulatory compliance, and technical diagnostic procedures as per the organizational standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Execute detailed maintenance and inspection tasks on Typhoon avionics systems in line with approved technical data and prescribed work packages.
- Perform component removals, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault resolutions, replacements, and functional/system tests as required.
- Exhibit flexibility and a proactive approach toward responsibilities and follow supervisory guidance effectively.
- Maintain individual task authorization aligned with Qatar Air Force (QAF) requirements for component work.
- Provide progress updates to supervisors regarding delivery milestones.
- Support auxiliary activities in the Base Maintenance Facility, ensuring compliance with Maintenance Organization Exposition (MOE) and QAF procedures.
- Conduct fault assessments and generate work cards for unexpected faults found during maintenance.
- Ensure thorough documentation of all maintenance work and proper upkeep of airworthiness records in both IT and paper formats; report and escalate issues as necessary.
- Keep a personal logbook recording training and maintenance activities, and endorse others’ logbooks within skill boundaries.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead by example to meet performance targets, monitor progress, and report impacts on aircraft airworthiness; raise concerns promptly.
- Adhere strictly to regulatory, procedural, and company standards, suggesting improvements when relevant.
- Apply human factors and error management principles consistently to maintenance tasks, understanding associated risks and mitigating strategies.
- Ensure maintenance aligns with continuing airworthiness assurance frameworks and MOE guidelines.
- Demonstrate knowledge and compliance with statutory, regulatory, and legislative requirements including ITAR, EaPW, and ISO standards - support implementation of regulatory changes.
- Follow all contractual obligations relevant to the role.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience with Typhoon avionics.
- Completed engineering apprenticeship, preferably in Aeronautical or military equivalent engineering discipline, meeting minimum academic standards of City & Guilds 2675 or 2661, or an equivalent qualification in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance.
- Strong technical competence and extensive product knowledge within the avionics specialty.
- At least one year of practical experience in Typhoon Base Maintenance, demonstrating ongoing currency and ability documented in a logbook.
- Familiarity with aviation safety standards, expositions, and functionally mandated procedures; practical PDR understanding.
- Proficient in IT usage.
Desirable Competencies
- Commitment to compliance with risk assessments, Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) policies and procedures.
- Experience with Maintenix system (IMS) and Eurofighter support system (ESS).
- Completion of Typhoon Avionic Q Course.
- Awareness of E&PW Standard Course Specifications and ITAR standards.
- Completion of Qatar GFx fire safety training.
- Understanding of human factors through standard course completion.
