Wayfinding Designer

Role overview

This is a mid-to-senior level opportunity for a designer with strong wayfinding expertise to join a respected design team in Sydney, New South Wales. The role focuses on shaping how people move through and understand built environments through creative, precise, and practical wayfinding and environmental graphic design.

The position suits someone who combines conceptual thinking with a high level of technical accuracy, and who is comfortable guiding projects from early ideas through to detailed documentation and final delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Design intuitive wayfinding frameworks across a range of project types.
• Develop signage and environmental graphic solutions that are visually engaging and easy to understand.
• Prepare highly detailed documentation sets suitable for fabrication and installation.
• Juggle several projects at once while staying accurate and meeting agreed deadlines.
• Work in close partnership with designers, strategists, architects, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
• Make sure outputs follow project goals, brand standards, and accessibility expectations.
• Contribute across the full project lifecycle, from concept development to final documentation and implementation.

Required experience and skills

• At least 3 years of experience in wayfinding and environmental graphic design.
• A portfolio that clearly demonstrates work in wayfinding, signage, and environmental graphics.
• Strong precision, with excellent organisational habits and close attention to detail.
• Hands-on experience creating technical documentation and construction-ready artwork.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to competing timelines.
• Solid understanding of typography, visual hierarchy, information design, and spatial communication.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with stakeholder coordination ability.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
• Experience with SignAgent for signage scheduling, documentation, and coordination is highly desirable.
• CAD or similar technical documentation software experience is an advantage.
