Role overview

The Controller is responsible for the accuracy and fairness of the dealership group’s financial reporting, while maintaining strong internal controls and meeting all manufacturer, lender, and regulatory obligations. Primary responsibilities

  • Manage daily bank deposits, ACH/wire activity, and complete bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and review monthly standard journal entries and keep fixed asset records up to date.
  • Ensure the month-end close is completed on time and financial statements are delivered accurately to OEM and management.
  • Maintain accounting schedules and reconciliations for bank accounts, floorplan, finance reserves, accounts payable, and similar balances.
  • Supervise the accurate daily posting of sales, service, parts, and inventory transactions.
  • Make sure vehicle title processing and inventory stocking are completed without delay.
  • Track CIT, vehicle receivables, rebates, warranties, GAP, and other F&I product-related schedules.
  • Oversee accounts payable so that checks are released by the 15th of each month.
  • Review work-in-progress records and parts tickets for closure, and monitor physical inventory counts.
  • Provide weekly reports and operational support to department managers, and contribute to budgeting work.
  • Guide accounting team members and improve office processes and overall workflow.
  • Coordinate timely filing of taxes such as sales tax, tire tax, property tax, and related filings.
  • Ensure monthly accounts receivable statements are sent and collections are handled promptly.

Experience needed

Applicants should have at least 2 years of experience working as a Controller or office manager in the automotive industry. Experience with the CDK DMS platform, including PayCom, is preferred.
