Role overview
This position is for a Cleaner at The Twelve Tellers in Preston. The job is focused on keeping the pub spotless across all customer-facing and back-of-house areas so that guests enjoy a high standard of cleanliness throughout their visit.
Who this role suits
The employer is open to people with no previous experience, as long as they bring a positive attitude, are willing to learn, and can stay calm when things get busy. It may suit someone looking for steady work or additional shifts, provided they are dependable, approachable, and comfortable working as part of a team.
Pay and benefits
The hourly pay rate is £12.91. Additional benefits mentioned include a free meal and drink while working, a 20% discount on food, drinks, and hotel stays for the employee plus up to three guests when off duty, and an extra £1 per hour for shifts worked between midnight and 5:59am. There is also a bonus scheme that can add up to 19% of pay, access to guaranteed-hours or variable-hours contracts, paid holiday, free shares after a qualifying period, and a loyalty reward scheme.
Working pattern
The pub operates early starts and late finishes, so the role offers flexible scheduling. The listed weekly commitment is 12 hours, with shifts shown from 6:00 to 9:00 on Monday through Sunday.
Key duties
The cleaner is expected to keep the pub clean to a consistently high standard and support a better customer experience.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout customer areas, toilets, the bar, kitchen, staff spaces, and external areas.
- Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning jobs in line with the site’s operating procedures.
- Use cleaning products and equipment safely and according to the correct process.
- Keep an eye on cleaning stock and inform the manager when supplies need replenishing.
- Report any maintenance concerns or pest issues to the manager on duty.
- Deal with customers in a courteous manner, including greeting them and saying thank you and goodbye.
- Take part in induction, role-specific, and refresher training, and contribute to ongoing improvements.
Training and progression
Support is available for people who want to build a longer-term career. Development options include structured hands-on training, apprenticeships, management academies, cross-training in other areas such as the bar, kitchen, or hotel, and opportunities to move into team-leader or shift-leader positions.
Additional information
The workplace is described as inclusive, with an emphasis on making sure colleagues feel comfortable being themselves regardless of background, preferences, or beliefs. The role may not be suitable for anyone under 18 because of the shift times and lone-working expectations. The employer also notes that other roles may be available, including front-of-house and kitchen positions. If applications are very high, the vacancy may close earlier than planned.
