Role overview
This position is for a Cleaning Supervisor at the Waikeria Prison site in Waikato, New Zealand. The role is focused on coordinating and overseeing cleaning operations for non-prisoner areas within the new prison facility, with an emphasis on service quality, efficiency, and minimal disruption to Corrections staff.
Reporting line
The role reports to the Facility Manager and has 6 direct reports.
What the role involves
You will be responsible for leading both planned and reactive cleaning services, organising the cleaning programme, allocating daily work, and making sure tasks are completed within contracted timeframes. The work must align with Cushman & Wakefield HSSE, quality and assurance practices, site-specific operating procedures, and all relevant regulatory obligations.
Purpose of the position
The main objective is to deliver a high standard of service to Cushman & Wakefield clients by maintaining prison facilities effectively and meeting required KPI timeframes.
Accountabilities
- Review the cleaning schedule and coordinate duties together with the site supervisor and Senior Facility Manager.
- Carry out cleaning tasks as required by the work plan.
- Monitor consumables and replenish cleaning cupboards across the site.
- Spot problems early and escalate concerns to the supervisor or manager where needed.
- Complete all required site documentation every day.
- Follow HSSE, quality and assurance standards, site operating procedures, and legal requirements.
- Perform additional duties that suit your competence and certifications when requested.
Experience and background
Applicants should have at least 1 year of experience supervising or managing people. Familiarity with the Waikeria Prison facility is preferred.
Technical and qualification requirements
A minimum of 2 years of work experience is required. A valid driver’s licence is mandatory. You should also be comfortable using computers, including Word, Excel, webmail, and smartphones or tablets.

Other requirements
This role requires a Ministry of Justice/Police check, completion of Cushman & Wakefield induction, and completion of Cushman & Wakefield compliance training.

Level of authority is as outlined in the Financial Delegation Authority.
Relationships
Internal stakeholders include the Waikeria Prison Contract Manager, Operations Manager, Senior Facilities Manager, Facilities Manager, Team Leader, FM support team, prisons on-site trade team, Soft Services team, and HSSE Q&R team. External stakeholders include the Corrections site team at Waikeria Prison, suppliers, contractors and subcontractors, and external auditing authorities.
