About the Role

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH), a key cancer treatment center in London, is recruiting a Clinical Trials Assistant for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will join the Cancer Clinical Trials Unit (CCTU) situated at 250 Euston Road and contribute to the administration and operation of numerous national and international phase II and III cancer clinical trials within the Lung/Breast Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contacting patients by telephone and assisting clinical trial practitioners and research nurses in scheduling patient appointments.
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive clinical trial files and managing related correspondence efficiently.
  • Handling and processing biological samples such as blood and tumour tissue.
  • Sending, collecting, and securely storing patient questionnaires.
  • Managing incoming mail and facilitating communication for the team.
  • Providing personal assistant support when required to ensure smooth team operations.
  • Attending clinic sessions as needed to assist clinical staff.
  • Retrieving, creating, and maintaining patient notes and site files.
  • Assisting data managers with queries and maintaining accurate filing systems both on paper and IT platforms.
  • Supporting surveys and audits as requested.
  • Taking minutes at departmental and tumor group meetings.
  • Adhering to Trust policies including confidentiality, Health and Safety, and Data Protection regulations.
  • Monitoring physical resources in the work area and addressing any issues with line management.
  • Prioritizing workload efficiently, meeting deadlines, and demonstrating initiative in problem-solving.
