Position Overview
The Contracts Manager will be responsible for managing the contractual and commercial aspects of transport, rail, and metro infrastructure projects. This position involves the oversight and administration of contracts, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, managing claims and contract variations, and providing support to project teams to ensure delivery on schedule and within allocated budgets.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and oversee contract management activities.
- Review and negotiate contract terms with clients, consultants, and contractors to reach mutually agreeable conditions.
- Guarantee that all contract-related processes comply with applicable laws, regulations, and contractual terms.
- Track project financials including budgets and costs to maintain financial performance.
- Evaluate and prepare claims, variations, and change requests in a timely manner.
- Assess project risks and establish strategies to minimize their impact.
- Deliver commercial guidance and support to project teams.
- Keep detailed records regarding contracts, payments, and correspondence.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to address and resolve conflicts.
- Create regular reports on commercial outcomes and contractual matters for senior leadership review.
- Ensure prompt invoicing procedures, collections, and accurate financial reporting.
Candidate Profile
- Educational background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Law, or a related discipline.
- Substantial experience in contract and commercial management within road and infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with FIDIC, NEC, or comparable construction contract standards.
- Expertise in contract administration, claims processing, and dispute resolution mechanisms.
- Strong negotiation capabilities and effective communication skills.
- Robust financial knowledge with a focus on cost control.
- Ability to interpret complex legal and contractual documentation.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and project management software tools.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of five years in relevant roles including contract management within railway infrastructure projects.
- Exposure to Operations & Maintenance (O&M) contracts.
- Hands-on experience handling claims and dispute management.
- Practical knowledge of FIDIC or railway-specific standard contracts.
- Preferred background in Metro Rail, High-speed rail, or Freight rail O&M projects.
