Courier Van Driver

Role Overview

This position involves operating a non-commercial vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 10,000 lbs or less to transport goods and equipment between assigned locations. Responsibilities include loading and unloading freight and performing product counts and condition checks at pick-up and delivery points. Ensuring proof of delivery accuracy and promptly resolving any delivery discrepancies are crucial. Routes are local with no overnight requirements, and the driver primarily operates on public roads and customer premises.

Primary Duties

• Ensure safe and effective dock operations.
• Handle hand deliveries of customer items when necessary.
• Maintain and monitor equipment fuel levels, refueling as needed.
• Verify and report product counts and conditions, including discrepancies like damages or shortages.
• Conduct daily inspections of the yard and secure loads according to applicable regulations.
• Operate equipment to and from maintenance centers and perform routine vehicle inspections covering tires, lights, brakes, and fluid levels, notifying supervisors of repair needs.
• Adhere strictly to all company policies, state regulations, licensure requirements, and timekeeping procedures.
• Manage corporate fuel cards responsibly for fuel purchases or charging stations.
• Maintain a clean driving record and comply with OSHA standards.
• Follow maps and GPS directions accurately to identify, locate, and distribute products, including lifting items up to 50 pounds.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of truck mechanics and warehouse or cross-dock operational procedures.
• Perform other assigned tasks as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
• Hold a valid personal driver's license.
• Be at least 21 years old with a minimum of two years driving experience.
• Meet or exceed the company's minimum driver qualification standards.
• Exhibit good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Additional Information

Typical working hours, start/finish times, weekly hours, and number of delivery stops vary based on customer demand. This role requires independent work without overnight stays. The employer is an equal opportunity organization.
