Role Overview
We seek a skilled Database Administrator to join our dynamic, self-driven team delivering enterprise-level products to local and international markets. This role involves managing, optimizing, and securing database systems, with a strong emphasis on SQL database administration, including monitoring, backups, and performance tuning. Experience with MongoDB and cloud database platforms, particularly Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), is highly valued.
The successful candidate will ensure database systems remain reliable, integral, and available, implement effective backup and recovery methods, and monitor system performance to ensure seamless operations.
Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Note that this position is exclusively for Saudi nationals.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee SQL database health, performance, and uptime.
- Develop and manage backup and recovery strategies.
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server environments.
- Administer database security, control user access, and ensure compliance adherence.
- Troubleshoot performance issues including queries, indexing, and server operations.
- Conduct patching and version upgrades.
- Implement high-availability configurations such as Always On, replication, and clustering.
- Continuously optimize performance and resource usage.
- Automate tasks for backup, monitoring, and database maintenance.
- Manage database provisioning and administration within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Set up and maintain Data Guard configurations in OCI.
- Oversee backup policies and automate backup processes.
- Handle auto-scaling and storage management effectively.
- Monitor databases using OCI tools like Monitoring and Alarms, logging, and diagnostics.
- Utilize OCI Console, CLI, and APIs for database lifecycle management.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 4 years of professional experience in SQL Server database administration.
- Experience working with MongoDB is preferred.
- Proven hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) database services.
- Strong capabilities in database performance tuning and optimization.
- In-depth knowledge of backup, recovery, and high availability techniques.
- Experience managing cloud databases including provisioning, monitoring, and scaling.
- Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) or comparable tools.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Azure Database Administrator and OCI credentials are advantageous.
Technical Expertise
- SQL Server and T-SQL proficiency, including tools like SSMS; knowledge of Always On, replication, and clustering.
- MongoDB experience focusing on Atlas, replica sets, sharding, and backup/restore processes.
- Expertise in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) database services, including Data Guard, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
- Experience with monitoring solutions such as SQL Profiler, SolarWinds, MMS, Nagios, Zabbix, or similar.
- Competency with backup utilities like SQL Server Backup, MongoDB Backup, Veeam, etc.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Bash.
- Knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
