Role & Responsibilities

The Database Engineer will be instrumental in enhancing data quality, designing and sustaining ETL pipelines, and collaborating with various stakeholders including product and business owners to support fraud prevention programs for government health initiatives. Key duties include analyzing diverse data sources to identify and rectify inconsistencies, developing processes that boost data quality, and ensuring data integrity and reliability.

• Analyze data from multiple sources to detect and correct errors and inconsistencies, implementing improvement processes.
• Maintain accuracy, completeness, and reliability of APS data.
• Handle structured and unstructured data using various analytic tools and data governance frameworks.
• Create, test, and deploy ETL solutions with data quality validations following governance best practices.
• Develop and sustain ETL pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and loading into target systems.
• Define data transformation logic to clean, aggregate, and organize data to meet business and analytical needs, implementing validation checks and exception handling.
• Identify optimal methods for data acquisition from diverse source systems.
• Collaborate with Database Administrators to support data models and metadata registries.
• Document workflows, prepare reports, and recommend process improvements.
• Create new processes and procedures to improve operations and coordinate with teams on report updates.
• Utilize advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, and conditional formatting.
• Present findings to business owners, customers, and leadership.
• Conduct ad-hoc analyses, statistical tests on large datasets, and improve data collection and storage procedures.
• Provide quality assurance using Excel, SharePoint, Power BI, and Tableau.
• Streamline internal organizational processes and respond to programmatic and stakeholder requests through analysis.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to testing progress and challenges.
• Develop scripts and dashboards to monitor data accuracy, reviewing regularly to maintain data quality.
• Deliver timely data reporting and solutions aligned with client requirements.
• Ensure client satisfaction through proactive communication and responsiveness.

Qualifications and Experience

• Over 4 years of relevant experience in data engineering and analytics.
• Working knowledge of Agile methodologies such as Scrum and/or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
• Experience building and maintaining scalable data pipelines.
• Familiarity with databases like PostgreSQL and Oracle, including data modeling.
• 2 to 4 years’ experience with data analytics tools (SQL, R, Python) and visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI, AWS QuickSight).
• Proven ability to lead design and implementation of data pipelines.
• Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and techniques.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and conditional formatting.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with automation and scripting.
• Ability to communicate complex data clearly and effectively.
• Strong organizational skills and multitasking ability in fast-paced environments.
• Capability to train and transfer knowledge to team members.
• Experience managing multiple clients and tasks simultaneously.
• Must qualify for and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
• Residency in the U.S. for at least 3 of the past 5 years is required.

Preferred Experience

• Certification in SAFe Agile is advantageous.
• Knowledge or experience in CMS healthcare IT environment is a plus.

Education

A bachelor's degree is required.
