Dishwasher (General Utility Worker)

Job Overview

We are seeking General Utility Workers to join our team in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This contract role supports food service operations by maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized kitchen environment. The position entails hands-on tasks in a fast-paced setting, focusing on sanitation and safety adherence.

Work Schedule and Compensation

• Shift: 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid break
• Hours: 40 per week (8 hours daily)
• Overtime opportunities available upon approval
• Pay range: CAD $14.58 to $22.16 per hour

Primary Duties

• Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment effectively
• Keep kitchen, food preparation, and service areas clean and orderly
• Adhere to food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety protocols
• Manage waste and recycling following company policies
• Provide general kitchen support tasks as delegated
• Maintain organized and stocked workstations
• Utilize cleaning chemicals and equipment properly, always wearing required PPE
• Collaborate with team members to promote smooth operations

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Basic knowledge of sanitation and cleaning standards
• Ability to comply with safety guidelines and procedures
• Comfortable handling cleaning chemicals and kitchen apparatus
• Physical capability to lift, bend, push, pull, stand, and walk for prolonged periods
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
• Proven ability to function well in a team-based environment
• Prior experience in housekeeping, dishwashing, janitorial work, kitchen utility, or food service advantageous but not mandatory

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing and walking during shifts
• Regular lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling tasks
• Adaptability to a fast-paced kitchen atmosphere
• Mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment and uniforms
