Highways Inspector

Overview

If you possess experience in highways inspection or a related field and seek a new professional challenge, this opportunity may be for you. You will primarily conduct site inspections, enjoying a regular daytime schedule and the autonomy to manage your assignments. Reporting to the Inspector Team Manager, you will perform asset condition reviews, safety checks, and quality assessments of repair work either independently or alongside a teammate.

Working Conditions

Your standard working week comprises 37 hours. Though generally daytime hours, occasional unsociable shifts, including night work, may be required to manage incidents. Driving is a key component of this position; candidates must have no more than three driving penalty points both at the time of hiring and throughout their employment. Ideally, you should reside within an hour's travel of Falcon House Office.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine vehicular Safety Inspections, submitting reports and initiating requests for urgent safety defect repairs.
• Conduct both scheduled and unscheduled driving and walking inspections of highway assets, adhering to established procedures and standards, documenting asset conditions along with any defects and their causes.
• Oversee event and illegal signage, escalating concerns when necessary.
• Assist regional engineering teams by providing current asset condition data to support maintenance planning.
• Consistently prioritize health, safety, and wellbeing of both customers and colleagues in all tasks performed.

Candidate Profile

• Experience or knowledge in conducting highways asset condition inspections, or equivalent inspection expertise from other industries.
• Familiarity with highway asset maintenance practices and related legal requirements.
• Solid understanding of health and safety regulations pertaining to highway maintenance work.
• Proficiency in IT and data collection methods, preferably including use of data capture devices.
• Capability to independently manage workload while effectively collaborating within a team environment.
