Lead Piping Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking a Lead Piping Engineer to oversee the piping discipline across EPC projects, managing engineering activities from planning through commissioning. This role includes proactive involvement in proposal development, technical support during construction, and daily engineering responsibilities within a complex project environment.

Primary Duties

• Plan, schedule, track, and control all piping engineering tasks.
• Facilitate interdisciplinary coordination and build strong teams.
• Identify and communicate potential issues early to management for timely resolution.
• Engage actively in progress, technical, client, and vendor meetings.
• Assist procurement by generating material requisitions, clarifying and evaluating technical bids, and drafting purchase requests.
• Support bidding activities including RFQ preparation, technical bid evaluations, and cost estimating.
• Provide technical responses for construction site queries.
• Review and assess GES plus and other engineering deliverables when needed.
• Ensure all outputs meet safety and quality standards.
• Participate in value engineering, risk management, constructability, and lessons learned sessions to improve project execution.
• Promote client satisfaction and enhance company reputation.

Experience and Education

• Minimum 10 years of cumulative experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, or Power sectors.
• Familiarity with GES plus/EPC contractors on projects with Saudi Aramco, SABIC, or equivalent organizations.
• Experience providing support during pre-commissioning phases.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BS, BE, or BTech).
• Relevant training and certifications in the field.

Technical Expertise

• In-depth knowledge of piping design including in-plant, interplant, corridor, and cross-country piping for Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power, and Water sectors.
• Proficient with Saudi Aramco, SABIC DEP, Royal Commission, HCISS standards, and regulations.
• Experience with international codes and standards such as ASME, ANSI, API, JIS, CSA, NFPA, FM, UL.
• Skillful in developing unit plot plans, equipment layouts respecting spacing standards, piping plans, isometrics, and pipe supports.
• Experienced in pipe flexibility and stress analysis using Caesar, pipe wall thickness calculations, and preparation of SIS sheets.
• Knowledge of piping tie-in packages including hot tap, cold tap, golden joint methods, and other industry-approved taping techniques.
• Capability to prepare specifications and data sheets for pipe materials, fittings, valves, coatings, insulation, and specialty items.
• Proficient with SPPID, SP3D, and extracting piping bills of materials with traceability through procurement to construction.
• Strong interdisciplinary coordination skills across process, mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, and instrumentation engineering.
• Active involvement in 3D model reviews with cross-disciplinary teams and clients.
• Participation in value engineering workshops, constructability reviews, risk management studies, and lessons learned sessions.
• Engagement in safety studies such as HAZID and ENVID.
