About the Role

The Bangor Daily News is seeking a visually oriented Multimedia Digital Editor passionate about expanding digital readership and enhancing storytelling through compelling visual content. This position suits a journalist enthusiastic about video, adept at identifying engaging stories, and eager to influence how the publication connects with its online audience.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that all stories feature strong, engaging visuals and adapt content to vertical video formats whenever possible.
• Source multimedia from internal archives and external online resources to enrich readers' understanding of topics.
• Create original video content and manage video contributions from creators, freelancers, and staff.
• Develop visually driven stories and produce original graphics and charts tailored for digital platforms.
• Investigate emerging platforms and innovative storytelling techniques for online content delivery.
• Collaborate with the Chief Digital Editor to identify special projects suited for distinctive layouts, designing them within WordPress and coordinating with developers and staff for publication.
• Maintain awareness of competing local and national outlets targeting similar audiences, encouraging continuous improvement and innovation.
• Support the News Desk with occasional duties including editing, publishing, and content promotion.
