Job Overview

We are looking for a part-time, on-call Video Editor to join our dynamic video team in New York City. This role involves producing engaging and shareable video content that resonates with a wide audience. Candidates who appreciate a blend of traditional news and unconventional stories will thrive in this role.

Responsibilities

• Edit short-form videos for online platforms utilizing original footage, stock clips, and social media content.
• Operate independently within a fast-paced media environment.
• Produce compelling headlines, concise video descriptions, and short scripts while conducting quick, relevant research.
• Possess broad awareness of current events spanning national news, trends, and tabloid material.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of experience editing digital video content, especially short-form pieces.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, with a strong emphasis on Premiere Pro.
• Skills in audio mixing and color correction.
• Experience with multicamera editing and capability to work independently or alongside producers.
• Ability to select appropriate music that aligns with a story’s tone and style.
• A passion for innovative multimedia storytelling and meeting weekly deadlines in a newsroom context.
• Organizational skills, teamwork, and adaptability to demanding, deadline-driven settings.
• Motion graphics and basic animation expertise is advantageous.
• Familiarity with post-production workflows is a plus.

Additional Information

This position may require on-site presence at our Midtown Manhattan office. The role is a temporary assignment conducted through a third-party vendor, with employment and payroll managed by that vendor, although the role supports the New York Post.

Compensation and Benefits
