Position Overview

The Private Equity Analyst role, based in Singapore, involves conducting sector-specific research within private equity domains such as venture capital, growth, buyout, and distressed strategies across Asia. Analysts collaborate with the investment team to evaluate private companies and funds through detailed due diligence including analyzing private placement memorandums (PPMs), financial statements, and investment returns. The role also includes conducting reference calls, interviews, and contributing investment recommendations to the Firm’s Investment Committee.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct market research utilizing public and proprietary sources to identify and assess macroeconomic trends across various sectors.
• Analyze financial data provided by fund managers, including investment performance and financial statements; perform valuation modeling using comparable companies and precedent transactions.
• Assist senior researchers in sourcing and managing investment opportunities pipeline.
• Evaluate marketing and supporting materials from prospective fund managers to highlight critical value drivers and areas needing further inquiry.
• Develop independent investment opinions on sectors or opportunities, articulating and defending these within the team and Investment Committee.
• Leverage creative approaches to data sourcing and hypothesis testing concerning sector and investment attractiveness.
• Monitor and review performance of existing fund managers and underlying portfolio companies; prepare for meetings and conduct ongoing due diligence.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree from a leading university with top quartile academic standing.
• At least one year of relevant experience in private equity, investment banking, consulting, or related fields.
• Strong quantitative analysis and modeling skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills able to represent the firm professionally.
• Leadership potential and ability to work effectively in teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Flexibility to perform multiple roles in a dynamic entrepreneurial environment.
• Willingness to travel approximately five days per month across Asia including Greater China, Korea, Japan, India, Australia, and Southeast Asia.
