About sKids
sKids is dedicated to providing joyful and educational out-of-school experiences for children (Tamariki) throughout New Zealand. Since 1996, the organization has welcomed over 3,800 children daily across more than 170 school locations, continually expanding its services. The work environment encourages creativity with activities like messy art, science experiments, sports competitions, cooking, and fun games, ensuring no two days are alike.
Role Overview
As a Programme Assistant based at Peninsula, you will be integral in creating memorable afternoons for children. This part-time role involves working a minimum of 10 hours each week, primarily during after-school shifts between 2:30 pm and 6:00 pm from Monday to Friday, with some variability in finish times. There may also be opportunities to work during school holiday programmes, which operate between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and assist Tamariki engaging in a variety of enjoyable and safe activities.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the program spaces to ensure a welcoming environment.
- Support the Programme Manager in orchestrating energetic and smooth sessions that keep children engaged.
- Identify and report any issues related to behavior, wellbeing, or safety to management to ensure adequate support.

Eligibility and Qualifications
- Must have the legal right to work in New Zealand (valid visa or citizenship required).
- Access to reliable transportation or a vehicle to commute to the sKids Peninsula site(s).
- Passion for working with children supported by any prior experience such as babysitting, coaching, or volunteering.
- Dependable, energetic, and committed to making each session enjoyable and special.
