Scrum Master

Job Overview

We are seeking a Scrum Master to lead and support cross-functional agile teams in Oregon on a full-time basis within a hybrid working environment. This contract role spans 12 to 24 months and requires an independent visa holder who can work under W2, 1099, or C2C with their own corporation (no sponsorship available, no C2C outside Own Corp).

Key Responsibilities

• Guide development teams through agile delivery processes and scrum practices to enhance collaboration, performance, and effectiveness in each sprint cycle.
• Facilitate essential agile ceremonies including daily standups, sprint planning sessions, retrospectives, and any other required meetings.
• Collaborate with Product Owner, Program Manager, Solutions Architect, and Solution Delivery Manager to identify and overcome challenges in agile adoption and process improvement that align with organizational culture.
• Coach product managers and development teams on agile best practices, fostering maturity in scrum methodology and aligning workflows with evolving requirements.
• Review how new solutions affect current workflows and suggest operational or procedural modifications to optimize team performance.
• Prepare and distribute sprint cycle and monthly status updates to stakeholders like product managers, program managers, and sponsors.
• Develop and track capacity and velocity models to assist sprint planning and maintain reliable software and feature delivery forecasts.
• Monitor cross-team dependencies and escalations through Scrum of Scrums meetings, coordinating actions to prevent or resolve blockers.
• Ensure alignment with IT governance standards and facilitate communication among IT teams to manage interdependencies and support collaborative delivery.
• Oversee testing practices by working alongside Product Owners to verify compliance with the overall program testing strategy and promptly address risks.
• Promote cultural sensitivity and effective collaboration among diverse team members, respecting differences in norms, communication styles, and perspectives.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience leading software development teams using agile and scrum methodologies, with knowledge of SAFe or other scaling frameworks.
• Demonstrated capability to influence and drive ongoing agile transformation initiatives that emphasize continuous process improvement.
• Experience within the insurance industry is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Information Technology, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Scrum Master certification such as Certified Scrum Master from scrum.org or an equivalent credential is required.
• Must be an independent visa holder capable of working on W2, 1099, or C2C with your own corporation; sponsorship is not provided.
