About the Role

Join our dynamic engineering team based in Berlin, working in a hybrid model and focus on backend development using Java. This role emphasizes full ownership of backend architecture powering a widely used B2B SaaS platform for scheduling and professional collaboration. You will tackle complex system challenges and leverage cutting-edge technologies and AI tools to build scalable, efficient solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy robust backend services in Java supporting core company platforms.
• Create GraphQL endpoints for streamlined data interaction and optimize queries for frontend consumption.
• Build event-driven architectures on Kafka to ensure reliable system communication and data flows.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the backend ecosystem and service integration.
• Utilize large language models and agentic AI tools to expedite development while maintaining code quality and accountability.
• Address complex global challenges related to time management, processing, and presentation in software.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to convert intricate scheduling needs into elegant technical implementations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience delivering production-grade concurrent backend services using Java.
• Strong ability to comprehend, debug, and navigate multi-language codebases.
• Experience building distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven solutions leveraging Kafka.
• Preferred skills include expertise with AI-assisted engineering workflows, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and strong fundamentals in algorithms and distributed system design.
• GraphQL API design and implementation experience is advantageous.
