Job Overview

The Tech Lead Officer will spearhead our software development efforts, enhancing existing systems and delivering high-caliber solutions for internal tools and client engagements. This role demands proficiency in software engineering, problem-solving, and managing technical projects through their lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead development and upkeep of all LivePay software products.
• Detect, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs and system errors.
• Enhance application performance, security, and scalability.
• Design, develop, test, and implement new features.
• Oversee software architecture and enforce best coding practices.
• Conduct code reviews to uphold quality standards.
• Collaborate with management for technical project planning and delivery.
• Develop and manage solutions tailored to client projects.
• Integrate payment APIs, third-party services, and financial systems.
• Monitor system uptime, performance, and health metrics.
• Ensure compliance with data security and industry regulations.
• Maintain comprehensive technical and system documentation.
• Support product innovation by recommending technological advancements.
• Mentor development team members and provide technical guidance.
• Respond rapidly to technical incidents and production issues.
• Guarantee that software releases are fully tested prior to launch.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least five years of professional software development experience.
• Proven experience in leading development teams or technical projects.
• Strong backend development and API design expertise.
• Familiarity with databases like MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and Linux server environments.
• Proficient with Git and contemporary software development workflows.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
• Experience in fintech or payment system domains considered a plus.

Additional Information

• This full-time position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
• The role is based in Uganda with flexible hybrid or fully remote working arrangements, per company requirements.
• Consideration for a 6-month probation period, a confidentiality agreement, and performance-based bonuses as relevant to senior leadership roles.
