Role Overview
We are expanding our team and seeking a senior Technical Lead with a focus on software architecture and full-stack development to join our Auckland-based customer-facing delivery team. This role involves leading the modernisation of a critical platform for a significant global client by modernising mixed .NET and Angular applications hosted on Azure. The position requires hands-on involvement in architecture, technical leadership, and close collaboration with engineers and stakeholders to transition from legacy systems to modern, robust platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop application architecture for a mixed .NET environment, spanning legacy .NET Framework 4 to contemporary .NET technologies.
- Create and implement a modernisation strategy ensuring new development adheres to clean, maintainable standards while progressively upgrading legacy components.
- Provide technical leadership across backend, frontend, and integration layers.
- Establish stable SPA/API integration patterns for frontend squads to reliably build against.
- Lead collaborative workshops with engineering teams, product owners, and client stakeholders, offering technical guidance during sprint reviews and releases.
- Communicate technical decisions clearly to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders including executives.
Initial 6-12 Month Objectives
- Define a practical roadmap for modernising the .NET application landscape.
- Enhance software development practices focusing on consistent APIs, versioning, and integration governance.
- Elevate engineering standards involving architecture, coding, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Help address technical debt effectively without compromising delivery pace.
- Build trust as a key technical advisor for the team and customer leadership.
Required Skills and Experience
- Extensive hands-on experience with both legacy .NET Framework and modern .NET platforms in commercial settings.
- Strong full-stack development skills with emphasis on Angular frontends and backend integration.
- Familiarity with a leading SPA framework, preferably Angular, capable of evaluating component architectures and supporting stable frontend/backend interactions.
- Proven experience in technical leadership, mentoring, and setting development standards within engineering teams.
- Proficient with Azure cloud services including App Services, Azure Functions, API Management, Azure SQL, and Service Bus.
- Sound understanding of web application security principles and secure API design.
- Excellent client-facing communication, able to clearly convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Desirable Qualifications and Knowledge
- Understanding of Zero-Trust security models, DevSecOps, and financial operations (FinOps).
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Azure Developer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect, or iSAQB Certified Professional for Software Architecture.

- Fully covered medical insurance for employees and substantially discounted coverage for immediate family.
- Enhanced parental leave benefits including salary top-up and return-to-work incentives.
- Volunteering leave days, internal referral bonuses, staff assistance programs, and annual flu vaccinations.
- Immediate entitlement to sick leave starting from day one of employment.
- Remote working flexibility when practically feasible and mutually agreed.
