Overview
Join the esteemed Quant, Index & ETF Research team in London as a Trainee Quantitative Research Analyst. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with veteran quantitative researchers to develop systematic investment approaches, refine quantitative models, and contribute to cutting-edge research spanning multiple asset classes. The role provides deep insight into financial markets and serves as a solid stepping stone for a career in quantitative research.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance and maintain a suite of quantitative models integral to the team's research agendas.
- Support creation of systematic quantitative investment methods across diverse asset categories.
- Assist in drafting research papers, preparing presentations, and generating market analyses and investment insights.
- Conduct analysis of financial and market data to uncover trends and investment opportunities.
- Utilize premier data platforms such as Bloomberg and FactSet for research tasks.
- Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams including Research, Sales, Structuring, and Engineering.
- Help develop, test, and validate innovative quantitative models and frameworks.
- Acquire experience applying quantitative research in a global investment banking context.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a Master’s degree or equivalent in Quantitative Finance or a related quantitative field.
- Strong foundation in Mathematics and/or Statistics from undergraduate studies.
- Experience in derivative modelling with a robust grasp of quantitative pricing and financial instruments.
- Proficient in Python programming for building, maintaining, and improving quantitative models and analytical tools.
- Highly analytical with profound problem-solving skills and intellectual curiosity.
- Interest in data analysis or data science methodologies.
- Familiarity or passion for financial markets, portfolio construction, and systematic investing.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks independently while maintaining close attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Prior research experience through academic projects, studies, or internships.
- Exposure to advanced research techniques.
- Knowledge of machine learning concepts and their application.
- Experience analyzing portfolios or various investment strategies.
- Familiarity with tools such as QuantLib, Bloomberg, FactSet, and LaTeX.
