About the Company
Orcrist Technologies GmbH develops the Orcrist Intelligence Platform (OIP), a sophisticated Kubernetes-based data intelligence solution available as SaaS or on-premises, including air-gapped setups. Their platform supports defense, law enforcement, and enterprise teams by transforming complex datasets into actionable insights securely and responsibly.
Role Overview
As the UI/UX Designer, you will take full ownership of the user experience and interaction design of analyst-facing interfaces within the OIP. Your role involves converting intricate, data-rich challenges into intuitive workflows, creating prototypes in Figma, conducting usability validation, and delivering comprehensive, developer-ready handoff documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and map out analyst workflows, identify objectives, and convert mission requirements into quantifiable UX goals.
- Design comprehensive usable prototypes covering search functions, analytic processes, data enrichment, and reporting interfaces.
- Establish reusable interaction patterns compatible with system primitives like identity and access management, audit capabilities, multitenancy, plus platform constraints such as cloud, on-premises, and air-gapped environments.
- Lead rapid usability testing cycles, synthesize feedback, and iterate designs accordingly.
- Prepare detailed handoff materials including annotated workflows, design specifications, component guidelines, edge case handling, acceptance criteria, and integration backlog notes.
- Advocate for accessibility and enable effective use of data-heavy visualizations such as graphs, geospatial maps, and tables.
Candidate Profile
- Possess over five years of experience designing for complex B2B enterprise or analytical products, supported by an accessible portfolio.
- Have demonstrated expertise designing data-intense, intricate UX involving graph/network analysis, timeline visualization, or managing large structured and unstructured datasets, considering performance and accessibility.
- Proficient with Figma and adept at maintaining design systems with thorough documentation to facilitate engineering implementation.
- Basic knowledge of web technologies including JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, understanding the constraints in web and mobile development environments.
- Self-driven with excellent workload and project management skills suited for remote work setups.
- Proactive problem solver who can identify and seize opportunities and deliver independently.
- Hold EU or NATO citizenship with eligibility for security clearance.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
- Exposure to OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) methodologies and analyst tradecraft in open-source investigations.
- An intuitive grasp of analytic thinking, including hypothesis formulation, uncertainty tracking, and case-building from incomplete data.
- Experience engaging in research or pilot projects with government, defense, public safety, or investigative domains.
- Competence in German language at B1 level or above.
Benefits and Work Environment
- Work remotely within Germany with regular workshops held in Berlin.
- Enjoy 30 days of paid vacation alongside budgets allocated for equipment and professional learning.
- Benefit from high autonomy and the opportunity to influence the entire analyst experience, spanning search, enrichment, and reporting phases.
- Contribute to mission-critical work characterized by a strong emphasis on thorough documentation and quality handoffs.
