Working Student - Frontend Development (React/TypeScript)

About the Company

Gauss Robotics is focused on making robotics engineering easier to adopt, more cost-effective, and accessible to manufacturers by using AI to automate engineering workflows.

Through gauss.chat, the team is developing the main interface that links agentic AI with live robotic systems and simulation setups. The product lets users create, configure, and launch robotic applications using natural language, immediate system responses, and interactive 3D visuals.

Role Overview

The company is hiring a motivated working student for 15-20 hours per week. The role is onsite, with hybrid work possible, and offers the chance to help build the next generation of AI-powered robotics engineering tools.

What You Will Work On

• Build and support React-based components for chat experiences and robotics visualizations.
• Connect the frontend with backend APIs used for robotics control and AI features.
• Improve user interface and user experience, including mobile and responsive layouts.
• Create automated testing coverage through unit tests and end-to-end tests.
• Take part in code reviews and work according to current development standards.

Tools and Technologies

• Frontend development with React and TypeScript.
• UI styling and design using Material-UI Joy, Tailwind CSS, and responsive design practices.
• State handling with React Hooks and custom hooks.
• API work using Axios, REST APIs, Server-Sent Events, and WebSockets.
• 3D visualization using Meshcat and Three.js.
• Development workflow tools such as ESLint, Prettier, Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Version control with Git and GitHub.

Requirements

• You should currently be enrolled in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar degree program.
• You need a solid foundation in software engineering practices.
• Hands-on experience with React and TypeScript is required.
• Experience working with RESTful APIs is necessary.
• You should be able to write code that is clean, maintainable, and well tested.
• An interest in robotics and AI-based products is important.
• Good spoken and written English communication skills are expected.
