Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated AI Engineer I to join our Applied AI team. This entry-level role is perfect for individuals with strong intellectual and emotional intelligence who thrive in dynamic, fast-paced settings. You will participate in developing AI platforms and systems that support Sezzle's advanced AI capabilities. Responsibilities include designing AI-driven features, crafting intelligent automation and agentic systems, and integrating AI into customer-facing products as well as internal tools and workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers to design and develop AI-powered platforms and systems.
• Take ownership of complex projects from inception through deployment and iteration.
• Create AI-driven features and automation systems to improve customer experience and team efficiency.
• Integrate AI solutions seamlessly into existing team workflows, products, and operational processes.
• Develop full-stack components, including backend services, APIs, data management, and frontend interfaces.
• Translate business challenges into robust, maintainable AI-based technical solutions with guidance.
• Apply systems thinking to maintain platform reliability, performance, and security.
• Work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders to deliver impactful AI solutions.
• Support production environments and participate in incident management while adopting operational best practices.
• Contribute through code reviews and knowledge sharing to enhance team skills and growth.

Candidate Profile

• 1 to 3 years of experience in software, AI, or platform engineering roles.
• Hands-on experience in building and deploying AI systems in production.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and frontend frameworks like React.
• Experience creating and managing full-stack, production-grade systems.
• Familiarity with distributed systems, internal platforms, and complex data workflows.
• Comfortable using Claude or similar large language models for productivity, research, and communication enhancements.
• Ability to navigate ambiguous problems and identify solutions with limited supervision.

Preferred Skills

• Experience contributing to AI product architecture and platform design.
• Basic understanding of machine learning concepts such as supervised and unsupervised learning, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
• Knowledge of transformer models (BERT, GPT) including attention mechanisms, tokenization, and fine-tuning techniques.
• Familiarity with embeddings, vector representations, and semantic search concepts as well as vector databases like Pinecone or Weaviate.
• Understanding of natural language processing tasks such as text classification and named entity recognition.
• Experience with agentic frameworks and workflow engines like langchain, n8n, or Make.
• Development experience with AI-assisted systems interacting with tools and data workflows.
• Cloud-native development knowledge particularly in AWS environments.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
• Experience using CI/CD tools and modern development workflows such as GitLab.
• Golang experience or willingness to learn is an advantage.

Compensation

The monthly gross salary for this position ranges between 2500 and 3333 USD.
