Applications Support Developer

Role Overview

This position focuses on the upkeep, support, and enhancement of business applications encompassing front-end, server-side, and database elements. The incumbent oversees the entire IT project lifecycle, including analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, integration, and documentation, all while adhering to the organization's methodologies and standards.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide support and maintenance for business applications across front-end, back-end, and database components.
• Manage interfaces and integrations linking diverse business applications.
• Deliver application improvements, new features, patches, and maintenance updates.
• Conduct testing, validation, and prototyping for new applications, patches, and software updates prior to deployment.
• Proactively monitor business applications for early detection of issues to prevent system downtime.
• Troubleshoot application problems, analyze root causes, and implement prompt fixes to optimize system uptime.
• Execute application deployment plans, including launches, fixes, modifications, and upgrades in line with quality standards and SLAs.
• Coordinate with third-party vendors as necessary to ensure effective system support aligned with business needs.
• Provide timely troubleshooting to ensure continuous business operations.
• Manage change requests efficiently, ensuring resolution within set procedures and deadlines.
• Implement security measures consistent with Information Security Department policies to safeguard data and systems.
• Ensure all IT systems have adequate protections against data loss from malfunctions, theft, or cyberattacks.
• Maintain compliance with information security standards and policies.
• Keep comprehensive system documentation to satisfy audit and regulatory mandates.
• Document software programs according to established business models.
• Coordinate production of accurate and timely functional reports and statements that abide by organizational policies.
• Oversee the accuracy of analytic outputs and ensure deadlines for reports are met.
• Perform ancillary assignments or duties as directed and provide backup support during colleague absences.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience in IT.
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years involvement in system and application design, development, installation, configuration, and upgrades.
• Banking sector experience is preferred.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in both Arabic and English languages.
• Comprehensive understanding of the IT project lifecycle, specifically relating to banking applications.
• Strong programming knowledge in Java and .NET with C#.
• Experience working with web applications and web services.
• Competence with frontend technologies including HTML, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Familiarity with databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, and Sybase.
• Deep experience developing application interfaces.
• Expertise with middleware technologies such as MQ.
• Familiarity with the banking industry specific to Qatar and the wider region is desirable.
• Awareness of current IT developments and industry trends.
• Proven knowledge of system integration and administration.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills adapted to a multicultural environment.
• Capability to perform well under pressure along with effective planning and organizational skills.
