Assistant, Project Management

Role overview

The Project Controller role supports AUS mining projects by keeping a close watch on cost, schedule, risk, and reporting. You will work with project managers, engineering teams, and commercial stakeholders to help deliver work on time, within budget, and in line with governance expectations.

What you will do

• Oversee project finances by managing budgets, forecasts such as EAC and ETC, variance analysis, and invoicing.
• Assist with planning and scheduling activities using MSP or Primavera P6, and follow progress against key milestones and critical path items.
• Build dashboards, KPIs, and other reports that show project status and performance.
• Keep risk, issue, and change logs updated, and evaluate the impact of changes.
• Support governance activities such as WBS maintenance, baseline control, and process adherence.
• Maintain reliable project data and ensure reporting systems stay accurate and current.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and finance teams to keep information aligned across functions.

Skills and tools

• Experience with cost tracking, forecasting, scheduling, and project reporting.
• Working knowledge of earned value management concepts such as CPI, SPI, and EAC.
• Strong analytical ability and clear communication.
• Comfort working with international, cross-functional teams.
• Advanced Excel capability.
• Exposure to MS Project or Primavera P6 is preferred.
• Power BI knowledge is an advantage.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, or a related discipline.
• Professional certifications like PMP, Primavera, or AACE are preferred.

• Meaningful support to governance and decision-making.
• Strong contribution to mining project delivery.
