About the Role
Safeway grocery stores, part of Sobeys Inc., deliver a high-quality food shopping experience across Canada, with over 1,500 stores nationwide. As part of our commitment to excellent customer service and community involvement, we are looking for a Coffee Bar Server to join us in Kelowna, British Columbia at the 4960 Downtown Kelowna Safeway location.
Position Overview
Serving as a Starbucks Barista within our onsite café, you will have the chance to develop expertise in coffee and tea preparation while enhancing your customer service abilities in a lively and welcoming atmosphere. This role requires no prior experience but demands a positive, motivated attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and standards consistently.
- Welcome customers with friendliness and politeness.
- Deliver outstanding customer service aligned with Safeway’s customer programs.
- Handle payments accurately including cash, cheque, credit, debit, and gift cards.
- Prepare both hot and cold beverages, including specialty drinks.
- Manage inventory by stocking and ordering products as needed.
- Perform light cleaning tasks as required.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Quick learning ability and adaptability.
- Capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly motivated and capable of working cooperatively as part of a team.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated excellence in customer service.
- Commitment to working safely and responsibly.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends.
- Availability to work any time on Sundays (specific to Alberta locations).
- Physical capabilities including occasional lifting (up to 45 pounds), constant hand coordination, frequent standing and bending, and occasional walking and squatting.
