Role Overview
The Creative Director is a full-time, exempt leadership role based in Portland, Oregon. This position is onsite at 5000 N Basin Ave., Portland, OR 97217, and follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The salary is DOE. You will lead a talented creative studio and work closely with Sales, Project Management, Production, and client teams to turn concepts into finished packaging, print, and brand experiences.
What You’ll Do
- Guide, coach, and motivate an experienced creative team working across packaging, print, and production, including annual performance reviews.
- Oversee the creative studio’s day-to-day flow by managing priorities, staffing, processes, and team growth so work moves efficiently from concept to final output.
- Represent the creative direction to clients and present packaging ideas, material options, and polished presentation materials with confidence.
- Work with Sales to build packaging, print, and branded merchandise concepts that help win business and strengthen client relationships.
- Partner with Account Directors, Project Managers, Production, and manufacturing teams to ensure strong execution from concept through delivery.
- Lead creative strategy for premium packaging, branded merchandise, retail programs, print, and integrated marketing work.
- Provide direction on concepts, dielines, substrates, materials, print methods, and finishing approaches so the team produces production-ready solutions.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, curiosity, innovation, and ongoing development.
- Handle additional responsibilities as needed; the duties listed are not exhaustive and may change with or without notice.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of creative experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Background in creative operations such as resource planning, workflow management, team development, and building scalable processes.
- A strong portfolio showing packaging, branded merchandise, influencer campaigns, brand activations, and structural packaging work.
- Experience creating and presenting client pitch decks, strategic concepts, and creative production solutions.
- Practical knowledge of structural packaging, dielines, printing methods, substrates, materials, and manufacturing processes, with the ability to recommend solutions in client meetings.
- Experience working with Project Managers, Production, and Sales to develop production-ready creative work.
- Advanced expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Strong command of both Mac and Windows environments.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, project leadership, and people management abilities.
- Ability to work in a professional office setting and use standard office tools.
- Comfort with the physical demands of the role, including regular speaking/hearing, frequent standing, sitting, walking, handling items, and occasional bending or kneeling.
- Capability to frequently lift and move up to 5 pounds and occasionally move items up to 20 pounds.
- Good near, far, color, peripheral, and depth vision, with the ability to adjust focus.
- Successful background check and drug screening are required.

Work Details
This is a full-time, in-office leadership position with supervisory responsibility for the Creative Team.
