Overview
Join Tesla as a Data Analyst supporting the Material Planning department. This role requires expertise in supply and demand planning analytics, operational reporting, and multi-tier supply chain visibility. Responsibilities include developing tools, platforms, and automated pipelines that offer real-time insights into critical supply chains, enabling effective supply simulations and driving operational efficiency across planning workflows. This position blends data engineering with analytics to deploy containerized applications, orchestrate pipelines, and create user-friendly frontend platforms that help stakeholders make faster, data-driven decisions. We are seeking a proactive analyst who excels in workflow automation, building scalable tools, and tackling complex supply chain challenges using data.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage dashboards, tools, and platforms to deliver comprehensive visibility across supply and demand planning within multi-tiered supply chains.
- Conduct supply simulations to pinpoint supply chain constraints, forecast risks, and assist planning and GSM teams in decision-making.
- Create and maintain automated data pipelines to support daily workflows including data extraction, transformation, and reporting.
- Automate routine operational tasks to eliminate manual processes and promote efficiency in Material Planning, GSM, and Component GSM teams.
- Analyze large datasets with SQL to identify trends, discrepancies, and actionable insights within supply chains.
- Use Python to build automation scripts and data processing pipelines for extraction, transformation, reporting, and simulation models.
- Collaborate with multiple teams such as Demand Planning, Material Planning, GSMs, Component GSM, Systems, and regional stakeholders to align analytics with business needs.
- Provide leadership with dashboards, supply risk evaluations, ad-hoc analysis, and quarterly summaries of operations.
- Handle multiple analytics projects, platform development, and data support requests independently ensuring timely delivery.
- Coordinate with IT and Systems teams to define system requirements and participate throughout the software development lifecycle from design to deployment and testing.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Engineering, Supply Chain, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or Economics, or equivalent experience with 2+ years in supply chain analytics, demand/supply planning, or related roles.
- Proficiency in querying and analyzing large datasets using SQL.
- Experience programming in Python for data analysis, automation, and pipeline development, including familiarity with libraries like pandas and NumPy.
- Strong analytical capability including performing simulations and presenting data-driven insights clearly.
- Ability to develop and maintain automated data pipelines and workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to foster trust and collaboration across planning, GSM, and systems teams.
- Preferred experience developing frontend tools and platforms using React and JSS.
- Preferred skills in creating dashboards and visualizations using Tableau or similar tools.
- Knowledge of supply chain concepts like multi-tier planning, gating analysis, and supply/demand balancing is a significant advantage.
