Data Engineer

About the role

Agility IT is seeking a Data Engineer for a consulting engagement in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This is a T4 contract position and requires working onsite with return-to-office availability.

The successful candidate should bring practical experience in SQL, Python, ETL development, and Snowflake. The work will involve building and supporting data pipelines, handling large datasets, and contributing to cloud-based data warehouse environments.

Key responsibilities

• Build, enhance, and support ETL pipelines and related data workflows.
• Create and fine-tune advanced SQL queries for extracting, transforming, and reporting data.
• Apply Python to automate data tasks, process datasets, and assist with pipeline operations.
• Use Snowflake to contribute to data warehouse development and integration activities.
• Work closely with technical stakeholders to gather data needs and deliver dependable solutions.
• Investigate and resolve issues related to data quality, performance, and pipeline reliability.
• Maintain documentation and follow strong data engineering practices.

Required experience and capabilities

• Proven experience developing SQL solutions.
• Practical hands-on experience with Python.
• Background in designing and supporting ETL workflows.
• Experience with Snowflake.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing principles.
• Ability to work onsite in Toronto under a return-to-office arrangement.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
