Data Governance Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a Data Governance Engineer to lead initiatives involving data governance, discovery, and classification using Microsoft Purview. This role entails designing and implementing enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure that data across the organization is well managed, protected, and complies with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead configuration and administration of Microsoft Purview components including Data Map, Data Catalog, and Data Estate Insights.
• Conduct thorough data discovery, scanning, and classification across diverse data sources to identify sensitive and business-critical information.
• Develop and enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices to ensure consistency and compliance.
• Manage metadata and maintain accurate data cataloging solutions across the enterprise.
• Set up and maintain data lineage tracking mechanisms across various data platforms.
• Configure data source connections and connectors within Microsoft Purview for integration purposes.
• Integrate Microsoft Purview with Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse Pipelines to enable seamless data governance across Azure services.
• Implement role-based access controls to secure data access and maintain compliance with data privacy regulations.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with business units, security teams, compliance officers, and data engineers to enhance data quality and governance initiatives.
• Create and maintain governance reports, dashboards, and comprehensive data inventory documentation.
• Develop and update formal data governance documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
• Support audits, compliance checks, and data governance assessments as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data governance and metadata management.
• Provide ongoing training and guidance on Microsoft Purview capabilities and best practices.
• Keep up-to-date with advancements in Microsoft Purview, Azure data services, and data governance trends.
