Data Scientist (m/w/d)

Role Overview

As a Data Scientist specializing in Generative AI, you will take full ownership of designing and implementing specific (Gen)AI solutions that generate significant value in core business areas, such as automation. You will leverage your expertise with large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agent-based workflows to build practical applications ranging from initial MVPs to stable production environments.

Collaborating closely with business units, you will identify relevant GenAI use cases in areas like document processing, knowledge management, customer interaction, or decision support, while clarifying realistic capabilities of GenAI technologies. You will translate complex domain requirements into modern technical approaches and produce clear, understandable recommendations for business stakeholders, based on key technical metrics.

Further, you will integrate AI services into existing systems and processes, ensuring operational stability and reliability. You will actively participate in a community of GenAI practitioners by sharing knowledge, best practices (e.g., prompt design, evaluation, monitoring), and contributing reusable components and expertise.

Candidate Profile

• Completed university degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Several years of experience as a Data Scientist showing a proactive, execution-focused approach and enthusiasm for end-to-end responsibility from ideation through to production use.
• Proficient in Python for data and machine learning tasks using libraries like Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar.
• Extensive practical knowledge in advanced analytics and data science including statistical modeling, machine learning, text mining, and data visualization, as well as hands-on experience with GenAI and LLM-based solutions, ideally including RAG/chatbot systems, agent workflows, unstructured data processing, and GenAI system evaluation and monitoring.
• Strong analytical and conceptual abilities in data sourcing and preparation, preferably with experience in insurance or other highly regulated industries.
• Fluent in German and English with readiness for occasional business travel.
