Engineering Lead - Structural

Overview

We are looking for an Engineering Lead specializing in Structural Engineering to oversee all structural design deliverables across various project phases including Conceptual Studies, FEED, EPCI, and beyond. The role involves leading design efforts for offshore jackets, sensor tower platforms, and related offshore structures, ensuring projects meet quality and compliance standards through to final completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and verify structural engineering deliverables such as design basis documents, specifications, and different analyses related to in-service and pre-service conditions (fatigue, pushover, seismic, lift, loadout, transportation, on-bottom stability, etc.).
• Provide expert technical leadership and guidance within the structural engineering team and contractors.
• Conduct thorough review and verification of design outputs from contractors, consultants, and third parties to ensure adherence to project goals and operational philosophies.
• Ensure all engineering standards and specifications meet company and industry requirements.
• Manage relationships and coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, vendors, resolving structural engineering issues as required.
• Approve engineering deliverables, material requisitions, and purchase orders aligning with standards and approved designs.
• Lead structural engineering contributions throughout project lifecycle stages, including planning, scheduling, interface and risk management, commissioning, and handover.
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives and coordinate interfaces with other disciplines like drilling and completion.
• Support offshore installation and participate in inspections and handover activities when needed.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• At least 8 years of engineering experience with a minimum of 4 years in the Oil & Gas sector.
• At least 1 year in supervisory or leadership capacity, overseeing contractor teams.
• Proven track record as Structural Lead on significant offshore capital projects.
• Experience collaborating with operating companies, EPC contractors, engineering consultants, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Comprehensive understanding of international engineering standards, specifications, and design methodologies.
• Knowledge of project execution fundamentals such as planning, scheduling, cost control, stage-gate systems, risk and change management, interface coordination, commissioning, and handover.
• Experience managing third-party contractors and vendors across various project stages including FEED through start-up.
• Exposure to sour gas and LNG facilities (onshore) and/or large offshore platforms and pipelines.
• Offshore travel flexibility and possession of offshore safety certifications including T-BOSIET and H&S Certification.

Additional Information

The candidate must be willing to travel offshore for brief periods. This is a contract position based onsite in Doha, Qatar.
