About the Role

Air New Zealand is advancing rapidly to become a foremost digital airline worldwide. Anchored in this vision, our Architecture Chapter shapes core technology foundations that deliver outstanding customer experiences, spearhead enterprise-wide change, and enable the airline to flourish in a fast-evolving industry.

Reporting directly to the Chapter Lead Enterprise Architecture, this position acts as a trusted strategic advisor across multiple business units. The role collaborates closely with Tribe leaders to envision, plan, and design an interconnected Air New Zealand Tribe eco-system aimed at achieving customer-focused service outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and articulate the architecture vision for the Tribe, aligning with strategic objectives and long-term roadmaps alongside the broader Architecture community.
• Serve as a strategic lead within the Tribe, partnering with Tribe Lead and Tribe Digital Lead to cultivate capabilities that significantly enhance the delivery of Air New Zealand's digital products.
• Lead and engage in architecture governance processes to ensure that decisions affecting the digital environment comply with established digital dexterity guidelines and align with platform strategies.
• Advocate and effectively communicate the value of Architecture to unify and align the Tribe's vision and strategies for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Support vendor selection by offering strategic advice and utilizing architecture tools such as capability maps to shape selection criteria and evaluation processes.
• Collaborate with Tribe leadership to survey market solutions, conduct necessary research, and facilitate balanced decisions on build versus buy versus subscribe approaches.
• Establish and enforce architecture guardrails at the enterprise level to govern shared, purposeful architecture.
• Empower product managers with the autonomy and expertise needed to make emergent, product-level architecture choices.
• Represent Air New Zealand at relevant industry and technology events, both as an attendee and speaker.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven ability to quickly build trust with Tribe and Executive stakeholders and communicate adeptly with diverse audiences.
• Outstanding skill in simplifying complex problems and systems into clear concepts that facilitate decision-making at various organizational levels.
• Experience advising on digitization of end-to-end services to refine operational models.
• Strong strategic thinking capabilities combined with a broad, varied background in product and digital environments.
• Proven leadership in providing architectural guidance during enterprise procurement processes.
• An understanding of commercial and financial principles is considered highly beneficial.
